It is safe to say that the 2nd Amendment is being attacked in America. Sadly, new gun laws and regulations are not the answer. Criminals tend to disobey regulations---hence, their designation, "criminals." What they do is burden law-abiding citizens and lays a disadvantage to good people who wish to not be victimized. Just look at the cities with strict gun laws and regulations (i.e. Washington D.C. and Chicago). Now look at the crime rates. This election season, there is a ballot initiative that favors further regulation between private party sales. Question 1 would require private parties who want to transfer ownership of a firearm, to undergo a background check through a licensed gun dealer at a "reasonable fee." What empirical evidence exists that shows this is the method by which criminals acquire guns anyhow? Without objective evidence, how is this a "common sense" law? As the only GOP Assembly candidate in this district with an "A" rating from the NRA-PVF, I promise to battle against this from becoming the law of the land. On it's face of course, there are exemptions such as family members able to transfer without the check, but let's face it, every single government power grab starts in phases. Wasn't it Obama who said plainly that a single-payer healthcare system was the goal and that we'll get there? When federal income taxes originated, they were to affect only a small minority of wealthy individuals. Look where we are now. It's called grooming. Let's call it what it is. Elect me, and I can fight this predatory regulation from taking root and spawning a widespread "gun grab." This is how it all starts. You have my word, I will vote "NO" on every gun regulating bill I see enter Carson City. |
